Editorial Standards

The standards TandemLeaf uses for accuracy, sourcing, reviews, comparisons, updates and commercial independence.

Our editorial standards are designed around one question: does this page leave the reader better able to understand a decision, verify the facts and choose a sensible next step?

Core standard

Accuracy before speed. Usefulness before volume. Evidence before assertion.

Reader usefulness comes first

Every substantial TandemLeaf article is expected to answer the main question early, explain the important mechanics in plain English and show what could change the outcome. We do not add sections simply to make an article longer or repeat a keyword.

Research starts with primary sources

For insurance coverage, provider reviews and comparisons, we generally prioritize official insurer materials and policy documents, then state insurance regulators, NAIC and government sources. Secondary sources may add context, but they do not replace controlling policy language.

Reviews must be specific

A company review should tell readers how that company’s current product is structured, where the meaningful trade-offs are, what a claim may look like and who should compare alternatives.

Comparisons must compare like with like

When possible, we normalize the same deductible, reimbursement rate, annual limit, valuation method or other core setting before discussing price. A lower price can reflect lower coverage, not better value.

We do not fabricate authority

TandemLeaf does not invent professional credentials, customer experiences, product testing, survey results, quotes or numerical ratings. If we have not personally done something, we do not write as though we have.

Facts, analysis and estimates are different things

Official product facts should be presented as facts with appropriate qualification. TandemLeaf analysis is our interpretation of what those facts mean for a consumer. Illustrative calculations are labeled as examples rather than promises of a future price or claim result.

Time-sensitive information is treated as time-sensitive

Insurance features, pricing, state availability and company procedures can change. Important pages are written to make those limits clear, and the issued policy or contract always controls over a general article.

Commercial relationships do not decide our conclusion

TandemLeaf may earn compensation from eligible partner activity. That relationship does not guarantee inclusion, favorable treatment or a recommendation.

Corrections matter

If we identify a material factual error, we correct it as promptly as practical. Readers can report a possible error through our Corrections Policy or Contact page.
